Steve & I had a great time in Madison. One of the highlights for me was visiting Revolution Cycles. It's a classic bike shop (versus a shiny bike store) with a whole lotta character. Like this reminder of what can happen to a bike chain without proper care. I even bought a shirt from the nice old skooler with the grimy mohawk.
In other news it is official that I will be teaching a workshop at this year's Portland Zine Symposium.
I think I'll call it Who Wouldn't Want to Make a Comic Journal? I Mean, Really? I'm working on a zine of the same name, and I even started doing my own comic journal again. Here's a sample.
My friend John is writing a column for the Daily Iowan about zines. We hung out several times, specifically talking about zines and what the culture of zines can encompass. The column is a favorable assessment of zines, me and Benjamin Franklin. You can read it on John's blog.
